NOBILIS in Latin means ‘distinguished’ or “in good taste”. In 1928, Adolphe Halard, founder of the company, opened a boutique under this name at 29 rue Bonaparte in Paris, between the church of Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Fine Arts School, Ecole des Beaux Arts. By surrounding himself with renowned painters such as Suzanna Fontan, he began designing collections of wallpapers and fabrics which express the emotion of contemporary artists: the Nobilis spirit was born. NOBILIS quickly became internationally known for the quality and upscale finish of its products and services.
In addition to its original role as a designer of fabric, trimmings, and wallpaper, NOBILIS also develops collections of rugs, sofas, furniture, and decoration accessories. NOBILIS epitomizes the elegance and good taste of French culture, while still remaining open to international influences. Always refined and of the highest quality, the different styles of NOBILIS collections range from twists on traditional French patterns to the latest chic designer creations. They are characterized by the richness of their materials, their creativity, patterns, and colors as well as their technical innovation. As a brand Nobilis is prestigious yet accessible with the NOBILIS designs enjoyed in homes and businesses. Some of the most successful decorators, interior designers, and decoration professionals call upon Nobilis to transform the interiors of prestigious luxury hotels and restaurants, yachts, private homes.
