David Hicks

David Hicks (1929-98) has emerged as the most influential interior designers of his generation. His style, known through his own books and through Ashley’s David Hicks: A Life of Design, has been a foremost influence on contemporary designers of both fashion and home.

Known for his bold use of colour, eclecticism, and geometric designs, David Hicks is acknowledged as one of the most exciting and innovative British interior designers of the late twentieth century. These striking collections of David Hicks fabrics and wallpapers have been produced by GP & J Baker in collaboration with his son, Ashley Hicks. They range from characteristic, punchy geometrics and stylized florals printed on linen, to luxurious cut velvets and heavy, symmetrical embroideries.

These striking new collections of David Hicks fabrics, taken from original archive patterns, have been produced by GP & J Baker in collaboration with his son, Ashley Hicks. They combine his father’s strong graphic style and powerful colour sense with a gentler and more usable contemporary appeal.
