Brian Yates

Brian Yates has been well established for over 30 years and, in that time, the company has created an enviable reputation for design expertise and a thorough knowledge of the interior design world.

The company was started by Brian Yates and Sheila Coombes when they recognised a niche market for unusual wallcoverings not yet available in the UK.  A small selection was shown to some interior design companies open to new ideas.  So began an exciting adventure to seek out specialist companies and unique products to introduce to the UK market.  Before long Brian Yates had a small and loyal following eagerly anticipating the latest designs.  Now there is a wide-ranging client list of interior designers, retailers, hotels and specifiers working on a vast range of interior projects at any time.

Brian Yates repertoire includes stylish and exclusive fabrics from Sheila Coombes. These include stunning prints, wide width taffetas and semi sheers. Beautiful silk and linen blends with washed artisan finishes are developed in Sheila’s distinctive colour palette which offer subtlety and richness. Brian Yates offers something for every taste and every interior, cutting edge contemporary through to classical.

New collections include the Cadenza, influenced by the rich classic Ottoman style which would have been woven in Italy for the royal courts and palaces of the Ottoman Empire in the late 16th, early 17th century. The elegant pomegranate flowers form the major motif on this design with stylised leaves growing on intertwining stems. A background of beautiful silk and linen threads are woven with the surprising addition of a wool Boucle yarn. This is instead of the rich gilt and metal threads which would have been used in the past and imparts a contemporary and up to the minute look which is both innovative and beautiful.Soft tones of grey, washed jade and an eye catching pink replace the heavy reds of the past and add freshness and life which suit today’s interiors.
